Board of Visitors' Day 2013

In October, members of the Board of Visitors and Brimmer and May Trustees spent the morning at the School. Visitors enjoyed breakfast and then Greenline performed three new songs under the direction of the new Director of Middle and Upper School Music Frank Van Atta. The Director of the STEAM Diploma Program, Chris Hardman, gave an overview of the STEAM education at the School. Second grade teacher Andrew Stattel and  four Lower School students spoke about their engineering projects, and a panel of the first Upper School STEAM Diploma Program participants described their experiences thus far.

Head of School Judy Guild presented the School's Strategic Priorities and the plan for the School in the next few years. Our guest speakers were two of our own alumni, Phoebe Donham ’93 and David Cutler ’02. Phoebe is a Managing Director at Morgan Stanley, and she is the co-head of the Foreign Exchange and Emerging Markets Sales desk for North America. The Foreign Exchange and Emerging Markets desk covers institutional clients in an advisory sales and trading capacity of all currency and interest rate products. David teaches full-time in Florida at Trinity Palmer School, has been named Teacher of the Future by NAIS, is the founder of SpinEDU where he reviews and comments on important education topics and trends, and is a contributing writer of The Atlantic. He is currently co-authoring a book with professor Tim Greene on how teachers connect and share lessons online. Listening to the work of our two young alumni inspired all of use who attended this important event, including many of our Upper School students.
