Banned Books Week

Brimmer and May Recognizes Banned Books Week.
Banned books week is celebrated this week in libraries throughout the country. The week provides an opportunity to raise awareness about books that have been banned or challenged, as well as promote the freedom to read what we choose. Many books are removed from school or public libraries each year because people object to their content. Our students have been asking good questions about censorship and have expressed outrage that many of their favorite books are not available to their peers in some communities. They are insightful and care about the issue and what better place to discuss it than in their library?
