Dominican Republic
See their Blog.
This trip offers an opportunity for students looking to connect with children in the Dominican Republic and to learn about Dominican culture and history while working on a service project. Working with one of the local NGOs in the region, students will make connections with local students through projects that provide additional classes, extra-curricular activities, and job training to students outside of the half-day of school that Dominican students attend. These programs also work with the children’s families through community events to help alleviate poverty in the region. In addition to service, the students will have an opportunity to learn about the region through sightseeing and participating in cultural events such as dance lessons and watching local baseball games.

Connecting With Boston
This Winterim trip will give students a chance to look at the many facets of the Boston area: its origins as a colonial settlement; its evolution from a small town to a world-renowned and cosmopolitan city; its place as a model for innovation and progress. Through preliminary meetings, the students will identify their interests and contribute to the design of the week’s schedule. By visiting sites and meeting with knowledgeable individuals, students will gain a deeper sense of their hometown and understanding of what is local, which will serve as a foundation for further study of global issues.
