Art in the Barn
Looking for a new experience this summer? Wouldn’t it be great to be creative with other young artists? At Art in the Barn we will use a studio approach, make a mess, and we won’t clean it up for two weeks!
This two-week specialized program will be held in Brimmer and May School’s newly constructed Corkin Visual Arts Center. The program allows young artists to express their unique points of view through a focus on Fine Arts. Led by local artist Lisa Houck (www.lisahouck.com), our young artists will spend the mornings exploring new techniques, building skills, and experimenting in both two and three-dimensional mediums. In the afternoons, artists will choose from two focus groups (that will each meet for two weeks). These classes will offer artists the opportunity to explore a favorite medium in depth. Choices will include painting, pottery, jewelry-making, textiles, and mosaics.
Artists will also have the opportunity to participate in daily free swim in the School’s heated outdoor pool. The session will culminate in an exhibit open to all families.

Artist-in-Residence
Art in the Barn will be led by local artist Lisa Houck. Currently a visual arts teacher in several area private schools, Lisa is a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design (BFA) and Tufts University/School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (MFA). Her artwork has been exhibited widely and is in numerous public and private collections including Boston’s Children’s Hospital, Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Hale and Dorr, and the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. Lisa works and teaches in a variety of media including watercolor, oil on wood, ceramics, mosaics, and etching. Each medium allows the artist to invent new ways to play with color and pattern.
Come one, come all! No experience necessary! There is something for everyone!
